Usually when you see this type of error it is because one of the column headers in the file you are attempting to import is different than the ones in the ResultsMail CSV template file. This often happens when copying and pasting from a different format and overwriting the column header in the first row.
The first row of the ResultsMail CSV Import template has the column headers of:
Title, FirstName, MiddleName, LastName, Email, JobTitle, CompanyName, Website, Phone, Extension, Phone2, Fax, Address1, Address2, City, State, Zip, Country, Notes, Custom1, Custom2, Custom3, Custom4, Custom5
If the file you are attempting to import does not have these same column headers in the first row, spelled exactly the same way, then the import will fail.
Please note that although the only required column is email, the other columns and column headers must remain in place for the import to work.
If you are using a Mac you may also get this error due to the Mac's formatting of CSV files.
To make sure the import works smoothly, please follow these steps:
- Download a new copy of the import template from the Import Contacts page.
- Copy and paste your contacts into the new template, one column at a time.
- Save the file, making sure you have selected CSV (MS-DOS) as the file type. If Excel asks you if you are sure you want to save it in this format, click Yes.
- Import the file.
Be careful not to remove any column headers or change them in any way.
